BASEBALL American Association: The independent American Association announced its 2027 season schedule that will feature ten teams aligned in five-team East and West divisions with each team playing 102 games from May 7 through September 5, 2027. The league had 12 teams last season but East Division teams called the Cleburne (TX) Railroaders and Kane County Cougars (Geneva, IL) left to join the National Association of Professional Baseball, formerly the Frontier League, for the 2027 season. Reign Top Coachella Valley in OT

The Ontario Reign defeated the Coachella Valley Firebirds in overtime Sunday afternoon by a final score of 3-2 in front of 5,125 fans at Acrisure Arena. The Reign will be in San Diego on Wednesday, Oct. 14 taking on the Gulls at 7 p.m. PST. Four minutes into overtime Cole Guttman provided the game winner as the Reign who trailed 2-0 early into the second period were able to complete another come from behind win. Griffins Ride Kiiskinen's Four-Point Game to Victory

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Behind four points from Jesse Kiiskinen (3-1-4), which included his first AHL hat trick, the Grand Rapids Griffins rolled to a 5-1 win over the Chicago Wolves on Sunday at Van Andel Arena to cap off a three-game weekend. Kiiskinen completed the first hat trick by a Griffins rookie since Tyler Bertuzzi in the 2016 playoffs and became the first Griffins rookie in the regular season since Chad Billins in 2013. Bears Sweep Weekend Set with Stars in 6-1 Win

(Hershey, PA) - Jonny Brodzinski and Bogdan Trineyev and each scored a pair of goals and Andrew Cristall produced three assists to give the Hershey Bears (3-1-0-0) a 6-1 win to sweep their weekend series with the Texas Stars (1-2-0-1) on Sunday afternoon at GIANT Center.
